The meeting with Kapellskär is sudden and direkt. Without warning you are in the large-scale, horizontal and open port plane which lies secluded and surrounded by forest in three directions. The place’s scenic location with a constellation of islands directly out the harbor has inspired the concept and design. The archipelagos nature and colors have influenced the choice and use of materials. Long corten steel screens next to the entrances announce the port from a distance. A stylized archipelago with patterned pavement and islands filled with beach rye and dredged stones from the harbor lead visitors into the entrance zones and terminal building.
